Uncle Con
Host
Why did you pick that name for your program?
“I love eating at diners where the staff feels like family and they serve comfort food. I hope Uncle Con’s Diner does that with music.”
What can listeners expect on “Uncle Con’s Diner”?
“At Uncle Con’s Diner, we serve up good music from just about any genre. I’ll give listeners second helpings of some artists, sometimes serve up an album side, and often have specials, such as a certain musician or musical theme. I enjoy taking requests, too, so order up!”
What do you hope to accomplish with “Uncle Con’s Diner”?
“I try to play a mix of music that isn’t heard on commercial radio. I use humor to make the show fun, too.”
How long has your program been on the air at WAPJ?
“I’ve been a DJ here since January 2020, right before the pandemic hit.”
Where you in radio before WAPJ?
“I’m a longtime radio listener. I grew up on Long Island in the 70s and 80s, so I heard lots of great radio on AM and FM. As a teenager, I listened to WLIR 92.7 constantly, hence my love of New Wave. In college, I auditioned at the radio station on campus but failed to make the cut. I nursed a grudge for 35 years until I passed my audition at WAPJ! My first show on WAPJ was “Don’t Touch My Stuff” which I hosted often with my daughter.”
If listeners could learn one thing about you, what would that be?
“Even if no one tuned into my show, I’d still do it. I love listening to different kinds of music, and I love sharing what I enjoy with others.”
Is there anything else you’d like to share with your listeners?
“I love building community through community radio.”
How can listeners contact you?
“You can interact with me via email at conradsank@gmail.com.”
